Miniature Effect In FCP X: Shift/Slant

A very popular effect these days is the miniaturization of real life shots called Shift/Slant. It is a simple Optical effect using our brain's own physiological depth of field process to make us think we're looking at a tiny miniature toy world, rather than the real one. Through the process I'll explain how each step helps to mimic the look of a miniature animated diorama image.

FCPX and Sparse Disk Images

The customer was using sparse disk images (created via disk utility) to encapsulate projects and events folders into one "thing" they could easily move around. All of these disk images were kept on their Small Tree ST-RAID and then mounted via a double click onto their desktop.

Avid Posts First GAAP Net Profit Since 2007 in Q4

Avid reported that its revenue for the fourth quarter of 2011 was USD185.3m, down 5 percent versus the same period a year ago, and up 12 percent compared to the previous quarter.
