Range selectors in After Effects enable many text animation functions that would be quite complex to achieve through the normal 'stop-watch' approach to animation. Range selectors also give us the ability to animate the numerous functions within the character panel, which at first sight, appear not to be animate-able!

Premiere Pro Tips for FCP Editors

I use the Enable/Disable clip toggle often on B-roll when I want to see what is on the track below. Generally It is a bad idea to turn off a clip and leave it off, as it will not render. For that reason I tend to turn it off and then turn it back on when I'm done. By default Premiere Pro does not have a shortcut for Enable Clip.

Apple's iMovie will now work on your iPad 1!

File this one under "whaaa?" There was a time when Apple's consumer grade video editing app, iMovie (USD4.99), was unavailable on the original iPad. If you wanted to bask in the app's cheesy glory, you were required to own an iPad 2 (presumably due to the extra strain on the processor). But, with the release of iMovie 1.3, that restriction has been lifted! Soccer moms rejoice!
