Chris Zwar - After Effects power user and occasional PVC contributor - shared on the media-motion.tv After Effects list that Peter Sciretta of /Film had recently compiled the first 12 episodes of Discovery Channel’s Movie Magic documentary series. As it was recorded in the mid-90s, a substantial portion of the effects are "practical" rather than done in the computer.

The Orange British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 13 February at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. This is the fourteenth year of Orange’s sponsorship of the Film Awards. The ceremony will be hosted for the fifth year by Jonathan Ross and will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One. Red carpet coverage will be hosted by Edith Bowman on BBC Three.

Grass Valley Names New CEO, Management Team

Grass Valley said today that it has named Alain Andreoli as the company’s new president and CEO. The announcement comes just a few weeks after Francisco Partners finalized the deal to buy Grass Valley from Technicolor. Andreoli was most recently an Operating Partner at Francisco Partners, and prior to that has held leadership positions at several technology companies including president of Sun Microsystems Europe.

Enhancements to the SD, HD and 3Gb/s HD-SDI waveform monitoring solutions include new video gamut, audio error logging and customizable profiles. UltraScope v1.5 is available now for both Mac and PC platforms and will help users save time and money, and improve quality control throughout their workflows.
