When editing, speed and accuracy are two things that make a great editor. In this Quick Tip, copying effects from one shot to another might be 'common knowledge', but what about having the ability to copy not only effects, but clip attributes as well, and being about to do it in a second. That's a trick that will amaze your clients every time.

Yes, this is probably going to be a rant. I'm just about over hearing that Final Cut Pro X is 'not for pros', as if that had some useful meaning. Guess what folks, that's a totally meaningless sentence and anyone who says it is... Well, let's just say I don't have a high opinion of their thinking processes.

Everyone has a different type of workspace when it comes to video editing. Some use big, powerful computers with 10 external hard drives. Others have a small computer that barely get’s by. What type of workspace do you have?

I am a big fat geek. I know it. I don't mind it. I know this because I get excited by techie things that no one outside a small tiny circle of people could possibly care about, nonetheless comprehend. That doesn't make me exceptional or anything, as much as weird and dorky. Matrox released a Codec to the public that used to be proprietary to their hardware, which is what we edit with at work. I haven't been editing at home for close to 4 years now.

This week a vigilant member of our Final Cut Pro community alerted me to a video on YouTube that he thought might be mine – but wasn't on my site. I clicked the link and went directly to a recently created YouTube channel, that was, in fact, displaying one of my video tutorials as their own.
