Grass Valley has announced that freelance editor Frank Aldana won its "Cut And Win" contest. The competition challenged editors to produce and edit a commercial highlighting the features and capabilities of Grass Valley’s Edius realtime nonlinear editing software.

While attending my last semester at BYU Media Arts/Film school in 2006, I wrote this paper as a part of the Film Theory class. On our final test we had to remember 30 of the 32 class member presentations. Mine was not on the final due, what I believe, to the goofy title and how easy it was to remember to connect to the summary.

No, this isn’t the 5D workflow article that you’ve been waiting for. That’s still coming in another couple of weeks. In the meantime, I’ve started on another Canon 5D commercial. This time I’m cutting the project in Avid Media Composer instead of Final Cut Pro. There are a number of reasons, including some recent stability issues I’ve had with FCP. In addition, the creative treatment calls for some nice speed ramp effects.
