We're still digesting Tuesday's sneak peak, and while most everyone is careful to say we have to wait and see the real thing the pro- and anti- camps are already staking out their high-grounds, and will be ready to do battle once the software is released.

It's that time of year. My feet are aching, my back is sore, and I'm feeling extremely rundown from the overall atmosphere of Las Vegas. Yes, you guessed it. It's NAB week. As most of you already know, NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) is the largest electronic media event that covers management and delivery of content across all media platforms (movies, television, Internet, radio, etc.). If you haven't been, it's the behemoth of all trade shows and a camera geek's paradise.

Today one of Wall Street analysts increased his estimates of Apple's second quarter earnings - especially due to the strong and growing iPad and iPhone market demand. According to J.P. Morgan Apple will probably announce 24.42 billion in quarterly earnings - up from a previously projected 23 billion.

Working with development partner Synthetic Aperture, Gamma and Density has ported its 3cP on-set color-correction system to the iPad and iPhone. GandD founding partner and CEO Yuri Neyman was at NAB demoing iC Image Control, which he said is currently being reviewed by Apple before making its way to the App Store.

A new version of Mactracker has been released (6.0) and if you are not aware of the existance of this little app you might actually find it very handy as it is a much better tool than System Profiler. Mactracker provides detailed information on your and every Apple, Motorola, PowerComputing, and UMAX Mac OS computer ever made...

Some have pointed out that many of Final Cut Pro X's much-lauded new features are not really that new. This backlash seems to happen with every Apple product, perhaps out of response to the rapturous reception with which Apple fanboys greet the superlative-laced presentations. In the case of FCP X, the criticism is that FCP X's list of new features (seen on video) have been around for a while in other editing applications (notably Premiere and Vegas).

Video sweetening is both a science and an art. To my way of thinking, Color correction is objective – evening out shot-to-shot consistency and adjusting for improper levels or color balance. Color grading is subjective – giving a movie, show or commercial a look.
