Ever set up your project to work in 16 or 32-bit float, and you then apply an effect, only to get into the effects window to find that the effect only supports 8-bit? Annoying isn’t it? Wouldn’t you love to know what bit depth the effect supports before you drop it onto your clip? Well, now you can!

After all this hype that has been circulating about FCP being dumbed down for only the prosumer and not the professional video editor, what will FCP have to offer you in order to stay as popular as it is? Whether people switch to Avid or even Premiere (watching another production company nearby use the CS5 AE to Premiere to AE features are pretty cool) is another question on its own...

Sorry for the lack of updates in a while but work has kept myself and Nate very busy and away from the site. Updates and news for now is the site will be going through a new look and update shortly so be on the look out for that . On the RED front Epic/Tattoo program should be going into full swing shortly and we should see some footage coming out testers in the not to distant future.

One might wonder why you would want to edit video on the iPhone, to which I say...why not! You could use editing tools to bartweiss1create a mix of home videos or mini personal documentaries right on the phone. I spent some time editing on my iPhone with 1st Video and the following are my impressions.

Today AppleInsider posted an article that claimed knowledge of a restructuring of Apple Pro Apps suite away from the needs of professionals and more in line with consumer-level users. Specifically "Apple’s Final Cut Studio suite of video post production apps is getting a significant makeover to better target the software to the mainstream of Apple’s customer base rather than high end professionals."

Today Apple Insider got the echo chamber of the Internet buzzing, with their post Apple scaling Final Cut Studio apps to fit prosumers by Prince McLean. It’s a great headline and I can’t blame Prince McLean and Apple Insider for running with it: it’s bound to get them a whole bunch of links.

AppleInsider is running a story that indicates Apple is re-targeting Final Cut Studio at home users and prosumers. The company has posted two job openings: for a Senior Visual Interface Designer a Senior Human Interface Designer, both for Pro Apps. Key quote: "Apple’s Professional Applications Design Group is seeking a passionate senior human Interface designer who also understands the intricacies of non-linear video editing."
