I tweeted earlier that I got the chance to watch a demo of what Assimilate will be announcing soon. I’ve attached the audio to this, it’s rough but you can listen to the recording to hear what was said, EXACTLY! I couldn’t shoot video or images, obviously because it is under NDA but what I am allowed to tell you is what we know and don’t know.
Talking to Steve from Assimilate he told me where Assimilate wants to go as a company and what they see happening to the industry. They have watched the industry consolidate rapidly. Boutique post houses, as they existed in the late 90′s early 00′s, are being bought up by bigger companies. This is not to say that they no longer exist but that the plethora that we had is gone. This has lead to more freelancers and this has led to the need to consolidate roles. The person doing the color correction may also be doing the composites.
This “Cross-Pollination” has lead Assimilate to develop Assimilate.Next, a system that has the potential to be a real disruptor in the color and compositing software arena!
