Let me explain the title before I get an onslaught of emails. I was going to meet with the SGO Mistika team during NAB and when I arrived at the booth my meeting with Mistika was double booked. So the woman at the desk said to just wait as there might be two gentleman I would enjoy discussing Mistika with, in step Leo Vezzali (Stereo Supervisor) and David Scott Van Woert (COO) of Identity FX Inc. Stereoscopic 3D Studio.
The three of us went behind the booth and discussed Mistika SGO and they were extremely knowledgeable, as their company pushes the boundaries in FX and stereoscopic 3D work and because of this have become early beta testers for SGO.
What is more exciting is their envelope pushing work that they are doing. Particularly with what we discussed for the Nike Project. This project is a project with multiple cameras brought together to allow the viewer to choose what they see and how they see it. You can manipulate the time, zoom and camera angle. I personally enjoyed this as, in my opinion, the next ground breaking film, the next film that makes our jaws drop like seeing Light Sabers in Star Wars or seeing Dinosaurs in Jurassic Park won’t be 3D but will be an interactive project, something that allows the viewer to engage the material.
It’s companies like Identity FX with guys like Leo and David who want to push these limits that will be at the forefront when this breakthrough occurs.
Enjoy the interview!
