Stop motion is actually a really easy thing that everyone could integrate into their videos. Here, I start out with a broad overview of where you could start and then where you could end up. I also provide a really easy way that everyone can create great stop motion videos for cheap!

Puppet pins are cool, new advanced puppet pins are cooler and you can do some non-typical stuff with them that can save you some time. This tutorial will show you a quick way to move parts of a single layer around as though they were separate layers. Pretty neat!!! Also, you MUST check out the Keyframes Conference. These days, stop-motion films are few and far between, with Early Man and Isle of Dogs the only examples released within the last two years. This isn’t surprising. Stop-motion animation is incredibly tedious and difficult to produce, taking hours upon hours to build the sets and move each character motion-by-motion. Hand-drawn and computer-generated animation are far more preferable forms that allow filmmakers to do absolutely anything with ease.

The paper crumple is perfect for your first stop-motion project — we all have access to paper, and we can all crumple it up. A quick disclaimer: while I’ll be using some semi-expensive gear for this project, you can actually create stop-motion videos with nothing more than a phone and a free app. The point is to focus on the methods, not the gear.
