Washington Post, What Makes the Cut?

    March 27, 2010, 12:38 pm
To Appreciate the Art of Film Editing, You Have to Start With a Frame of Reference. How do we know within the first 10 minutes of "Slumdog Millionaire" that it's going to be a fanciful, time-shifting, rag-to-riches fable about a plucky orphan boy set in the slums of Mumbai?

      Update on FCP Job Cuts

      February 19, 2010, 9:25 am
Apple has reportedly laid off 40 of its Final Cut employees, as earlier reported by AE Portal News. The cuts were apparently focused on remote teams based in the Los Angeles and Austin areas. Final Cut Studio is Apple’s flagship product for professional moving image editing and more. Naturally it also fields technologies marshaled within Apple’s Photoshop-killer, Aperture **.

      Video Editing Transitions

      February 19, 2010, 9:24 am
In digital editing, everything is a transition. The cut, the dissolve, the wipe, they are all transitions. A sequence could be a transition. A pan is a transition. A person walking across the screen could be a transition. Anything that advances your story, takes the viewer to another location, time, or space is a transition.

The twenty-second episode of THE EDIT BAY is now available for download. Some people start with lovely words, others shoot straight from the hip. Either way, the network gives you notes...

      Journey of a Dream
