LAS VEGAS -- The Pixel Farm (www.thepixelfarm.co.uk) will be showing products and hosting demos at its NAB booth this year. The company recently introduced PFDepth, a fully integrated toolset for spatial scene reconstruction, depth creation and 2D to 3D conversion, and will be demonstrating it at their NAB booth.

MONTREAL — VFX studio MPC (www.moving-picture.com) will open a new studio in Montréal, Quebec this autumn. The 25,000-square-foot studio is situated in Old Montréal and will be home to more than 200 artists. It will feature a full specification screening room, and will be networked through MPC’s pipeline, allowing for collaboration and review of sequences between each of MPC’s global studios. The investment is being supported by parent company Technicolor and the Government of Quebec.

AMSTERDAM — Dolby Laboratories (www.dolby.com) has updated its Professional Reference Monitor. The new PRM-4220 offers the same accuracy and Grade 1 performance as the PRM-4200, but introduces several new hardware features, including HDMI 1.4 and Display Port 1.1 interfaces.

SANTA CLARA, CA — Assimilate (www.assimilateinc.com) has launched Scratch Play, a new, free, comprehensive media player. Scratch Play supports RAW footage from cinematic and DSLR cameras, formats commonly found in VFX and editorial pipelines, and those found across the Web. It also features the company’s CONstruct media management timeline, which can contain any combination of different formats, resolutions or color spaces, including REC 2020, the new 4K ultra HD color space.
