Adobe has announced a new version of their Creative Suite at the last three NAB shows in a row. Unfortunately, they usually don't announce it until late Sunday night before the show opens, meaning we've not been able to reveal in advance what we’ll be talking about at the associated Post|Production World conference (requires separate registration and fee), resorting to generic titles and descriptions instead.

Lines: They show up everywhere, from underscores for text to animated elements flowing across the screen to mapping out paths. Many After Effects users employ the woefully under-featured Stroke effect to create these lines. After last week’s Hidden Gems, now you know about its more powerful cousin, the Write-on effect. A few years ago, I had to abandon multitrack USB audio on Mac because it became complex and unreliable after a system upgrade. That just changed! While direct manipulation of UI elements may not favored by NLE power users, sometimes it is faster. One example is is moving a short clip or still using the =/- keys to zoom the timeline during the move.

The interface is beautiful and minimizes visual clutter. Stuff slides onto screen when you need it and slides off the screen when you don’t. This keeps your eyes on the prize while you’re working and minimizes distractions. More interfaces should be designed like this. Very elegant and easy to maneuver.
