    Qube Cinema Brings Uncompressed 4K Projection to N

    Qube Cinema introduced the new Quad 3G interface for digital cinema projectors at NAB. The Quad 3G interface allows for integrated postproduction and digital cinema mastering workflows. Facilities can use one projector setup for both HD-4K uncompressed color grading and 2K-4K digital cinema playback providing a comprehensive review and quality control system.

      At NAB 2012, FilmLight will introduce FLIP - a new, real-time image processing system that lets the creative production team design looks in pre-production and apply and refine them on set. Employing a Baselight GPU renderer with Truelight Colour Management, FLIP can create and store an unlimited number of pre-set looks and spatial filters which can then be applied and refined in real time on set.

      The Foundry announced that Reliance MediaWorks has purchased a site license of Katana. The licenses will be utilized at Reliance MediaWorks' UK and Mumbai facilities. Working across geographies in this way requires a robust, flexible VFX pipeline and Reliance MediaWorks looked to The Foundry's NUKE and Katana to provide the key building blocks.

      In a sign that the negotiations between the Hollywood craft guilds and the studios remain on a positive track, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) are set to return to the bargaining table on April 12 to hammer out a new three-year contract.

      Cel-Soft to Launch Cel-Scope3D V.2.0 Stereo Analyz

      Cel-Soft will launch version 2.0 of its Cel-Scope 3D stereoscopic analyzer at NAB 2012 in Las Vegas next month. "New features of Cel-Scope3D version 2.0 include additional easy-to-read graphical disparity scales for common parameters such as depth range, rotation errors, vertical miss-matches and luminance imbalances," explained Cel-Soft managing director Robin Palmer. "These supplement over 60 different existing multiple display modes which users can choose from to suit their needs.
