Premiere Pro CS 6 is a big upgrade (really more of a rewrite), and one of the most useful changes is the behavior of audio tracks. In CS 5 mono, stereo, and 5.1 were different track types. Thankfully in the new version audio tracks are now referred to as standard tracks...
