I’ve been a bit busy lately, both personally and professionally, which has resulted in a bit of time between posts. Personally, I moved (from Woodland Hills, in the San Fernando Valley, to Playa Vista, near Marina Del Rey) about 3 weeks ago. This represents a kind of homecoming for me, only a year after coming home from a few years in Florida, as I lived in the Marina on and off for almost 10 years.

Avid Technology, a maker of professional audio and video editing software, is laying off 410 full-time employees — 15 percent of its entire workforce — and dismissing another 90 contract workers. Max Payne is the latest example of Hollywood’s yen for adapting the video game for the silver screen. With Mark Wahlberg in the title role and directed by John Moore, this thriller—which also stars Mila Kunis, Beau Bridges, Ludacris and Nelly Furtado—was shot in 35mm 3-perf in Toronto.

Although primarily a documentary editor Lindi Harrison has worked across some very challenging projects, including large website developments, Museum exhibitions and even the hugely ambitious 12 screen Sydney Olympic Games Presentation. Lindi's recent work included editing Tim Slade's highly acclaimed 4, where she weaved the magical work of four outstanding violinists to Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

Now that the dust has cleared and we will be seeing lots of popular movie titles on Blu-ray discs for our home entertainment, there are lots of directors and DPs stopping in at film restoration shops to see how their work looks all cleaned up, in 1080p HD and with their deleted scenes reinstated.
