New York editorial post house Beast announced the addition of editor Shira Ankori to its roster. For the last decade Ankori has been editing spots for dozens of major brands, including Taco Bell, Toyota, Walmart, DIRECTV, Merrill Lynch, SONY and Chevy.

Advertising agency Element 79 recently tapped production company DETOX to help create "Rock the Cut" - an integrated ad campaign for Supercuts. Led by director Barney Miller, DETOX helmed the production, teaming up with HOOLIGAN for editorial and TANQ for graphics and finishing.

At NAB 2012, FilmLight will introduce FLIP - a new, real-time image processing system that lets the creative production team design looks in pre-production and apply and refine them on set. Employing a Baselight GPU renderer with Truelight Colour Management, FLIP can create and store an unlimited number of pre-set looks and spatial filters which can then be applied and refined in real time on set.

The Foundry announced that Reliance MediaWorks has purchased a site license of Katana. The licenses will be utilized at Reliance MediaWorks' UK and Mumbai facilities. Working across geographies in this way requires a robust, flexible VFX pipeline and Reliance MediaWorks looked to The Foundry's NUKE and Katana to provide the key building blocks.

In a sign that the negotiations between the Hollywood craft guilds and the studios remain on a positive track, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) are set to return to the bargaining table on April 12 to hammer out a new three-year contract.

The Hollywood Post Alliance announced the lineup for the Post Pit at the 2012 NAB Show. For the second year, the HPA will program these in-depth presentations held in the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall (Lower). Over the course of four days, the Post Pit will feature dozens of information-packed 20-minute sessions.

Academy Award-winning film editor, Chris Innis, (The Hurt Locker), says she is "one of the ladies who would like to make it into that precious 5 percent of working directors who are women." She is crossing the line as producer-writer-director of It Must Be Nice - a short psychodrama based on the story I'm Better than You by the late Henry Slesar who wrote for Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Autodesk announced the 2013 versions of its Digital Entertainment Creation (DEC) software and suites, used by VFX artists in film, game development, television and advertising. Cel-Soft will launch version 2.0 of its Cel-Scope 3D stereoscopic analyzer at NAB 2012 in Las Vegas next month. "New features of Cel-Scope3D version 2.0 include additional easy-to-read graphical disparity scales for common parameters such as depth range, rotation errors, vertical miss-matches and luminance imbalances," explained Cel-Soft managing director Robin Palmer. "These supplement over 60 different existing multiple display modes which users can choose from to suit their needs.
