    Hand Cut Films

I focus my profession as an editor, because post-production is my favorite part of the filmmaking process. This is a natural fit, because I am able to sit for long periods of time without food, sunlight or oxygen.

Avid Unwraps an all new Media Composer

      April 7, 2019, 7:18 am
With Avid CEO Jeff Rosica asserting that entertainment community "needs to be disruptors," Avid unveiled what he described as an "all-new" version of the company’s Media Composer editing system, which is a defacto standard used by most Hollywood motion picture and TV editors. The news highlighted a flurry of announcements that Avid made before more than 1,500 customers Saturday, opening a two-day Avid user event tied to the NAB Show, which opened Saturday in Las Vegas.

Pro Tools 2019 - Why Is There A Delay In Releasing

      April 5, 2019, 6:22 am
Ever since we announced the new features Avid have been working on for a Pro Tools 2019 release we have seen speculation as to when we would see the first release of Pro Tools in 2019. Would it be 2019.1? No, so would it be 2019.2? No, surely it’s going to be a 2019.3 release and then March came and went without a Pro Tools 2019 release.

Stay tuned for DaVinci Resolve 16

      April 5, 2019, 6:22 am
Yes we know that Resolve was just updated to version 15.3.1 a day or so ago. When I saw that for a brief second I thought we might not get anything major in Resolve at this year’s NAB. I was wrong.

The CGI tidal wave in 'Snake Eyes' that no one got

      April 5, 2019, 6:21 am
It was recently the 20th anniversary of Brian De Palma’s Snake Eyes, a film perhaps not thought of for any major VFX moments. But, in fact, the movie nearly did feature a key CG water sequence in what was still the early days of fluid sims.

Irishman VFX will Hopefully Be The Best -De Niro

      April 5, 2019, 6:21 am
We still haven’t seen any footage of Martin Scorsese‘s The Irishman, and there’s a good reason for that. Scorsese and company are working hard to make the film’s special effects perfect. The movie spans several decades, and rather than cast different actors to play the cast of characters throughout time, Scorsese instead employed the type of de-aging tech Marvel uses. Robert De Niro, who reunites with Scorsese to star in the film, offered some insight into the process.
