Digital media training organization, Future Media Concepts, announced today that it opened its first West Coast training facility in Irvine, Calif., bringing the total number of FMC training centers worldwide to 11. The new facility is possible thanks to FMC's purchase of Irvine-based Promedia Academy.

Cel-Soft will launch version 2.0 of its Cel-Scope 3D stereoscopic analyzer at NAB 2012 in Las Vegas next month. "New features of Cel-Scope3D version 2.0 include additional easy-to-read graphical disparity scales for common parameters such as depth range, rotation errors, vertical miss-matches and luminance imbalances," explained Cel-Soft managing director Robin Palmer. "These supplement over 60 different existing multiple display modes which users can choose from to suit their needs.

FotoKem has appointed Joseph Slomka as VP and principal color scientist for the company's digital postproduction and creative picture services. New York-based visual effects studio Light of Day has hired Natalie Wollman as the studio's new colorist. She brings more than 10 years of experience in the European and Asian TV and film market to role. "Colorists are a critical member of any VFX A-team," said Light of Day managing partner Amy Taylor. Codex Digital announced full support for the new ARRI Alexa Studio. The combination of the Alexa Studio, with its 4:3 sensor and optical viewfinder, and the Codex Onboard Recorder, is already proving to be a popular choice for feature films.
