    Last week at the Los Angeles Convention Center, SIGGRAPH L.A. 2012 once again brought together the worlds of art and science to show attendees the latest in computer graphics and interactive techniques. This convergence results in a nearly endless spectrum of artistic applications of science and scientific expressions and impressions of art.

      Technicolor - PostWorks New York recently provided film laboratory and digital postproduction services for Moonrise Kingdom, the new motion picture from Focus Features and director Wes Anderson that opened the Cannes International Film Festival. The facility handled film processing, dailies production and digital intermediate color grading. DCP production and film recording were done at Technicolor, Los Angeles.

      Santa Monica-based Company 3 recently provided sophisticated color grading and postproduction services for Twentieth Century Fox's action thriller, Prometheus. Colorist Stephen Nakamura graded multiple versions of Ridley Scott's 3-D science-fiction adventure, translating the vision that Scott and cinematographer Dariusz Wolski, ASC, designed in subtly different ways to make the most of each of the different projection systems being used for the film's theatrical release.

      Colorworks provided 4K postproduction finishing services for Eldorado, a motion picture short, produced by Sony to demonstrate the capabilities of its F65 CineAlta digital motion picture camera. Eldorado, which debuted at NAB 2012, was written, directed and lensed by Curtis Clark, ASC, who also directed The Arrival, a short film shot with the F65 last year.
