AMSTERDAM - Console maker Solid State Logic (www.solidstatelogic.com) will showcase V5 software for its C100 HDS digital broadcast console at this year's IBC show. The new software is primarily focused on the implementation of Dual Operator Mode, which was developed in response to feedback from a wide range of SSL clients. The enhancement is particularly relevant to mobile installations when two operators are needed to work on complex productions, but where space and weight are at a premium.

NEW YORK CITY — Boutique visual effects studio PowerHouse VFX (www.powerhousevfx.com) served as the sole visual effects vendor on M. Night Shyamalan’s new feature, Glass, which opened in theaters on January 18th. LOS ANGELES — VFX studio Electric Theatre Collective (electrictheatre.tv) has added to its roster of talent in LA with the recent hiring of Joshua Guillaume, who will serve as senior Nuke lead. He brings a wealth of experience in VFX, including extensive CG integration, advanced compositing, and supervising 360 VR stitching/compositing. In his new role, he will be working with clients that include the NBA, Audi and Anheuser-Busch.

LOS ANGELES — The Visual Effects Society (VES) has named Chris Meledandri as the forthcoming recipient of the VES Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his valuable contributions to filmed entertainment. Meledandri is an Oscar-nominated producer and the founder and CEO of Illumination, the studio known for its work on Despicable Me and Minions. The award will be presented at the 17th Annual VES Awards on February 5th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
