Sexual Joys of Editing ...and other observation

October 8, 2009, 7:53 pm
The Sexual Joys of Editing ...and other observations by Walter Murch...On Tuesday, September 22, The Motion Picture Academy kicked off "Perspectives on Editing," a four-week seminar series held at the Academy’s Linwood Dunn Theatre in Hollywood, with an evening entitled A Conversation with Walter Murch. No Country for Old Cutters

October 8, 2009, 7:52 pm
We’re a strange lot, we editors...especially the older vets. And guess what? We get as tired of hearing our own bitching about things as you younger cutters must be — you pups raised on desktops and digital. But we have a right and a reason for our cantankerousness: we’ve fought in the Big One...Analog Tape. And we lived to tell about it.

First impressions of the Tangent Wave

October 7, 2009, 7:51 pm
I was very excited when a big FedEx box arrived a couple of weeks ago with a Tangent Wave control surface for Apple Color. I had a series of short videos that I was soon to be cutting and finishing and I wanted to finally give Color the proper test it deserved.

Rule of Six

October 6, 2009, 7:57 pm
I would first like to apologize for not updating the Edit Foundry Blog for almost a month now. I’ve been teaching and getting paid! I teach Video Editing (part time) at Front Range Community College in Longmont, CO. Building a lesson plan for each week takes a lot of time and I’ve been devoting all my spare educational time to that.

Original development team for FCP (Part 1)

October 5, 2009, 7:50 pm
Michael Wohl worked for Adobe in the mid-1990's and was involved with Premiere in the days when Premiere was one of the only affordable video editors around. He then moved to Macromedia as part of the original team put together to produce Final Cut Pro. He is credited as being one of the original designers of Apple's Emmy award winning Final Cut Pro software.

Anybody remember that classic commercial for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups? "Hey! You got peanut butter on my chocolate! No! You got chocolate in my peanut butter!" Then the two injured parties in the commercial realize that peanut butter and chocolate are really two great tastes that taste great together!

Well folks, today I’m getting Adobe in my Avid and Avid in my Adobe.
