In my work as a video editor and as an instructor, I try to focus on the importance of storytelling over the importance of the tools. But it's hard. Good storytelling elements never change, whereas video editing tools change like the weather.

VANCOUVER — The Autodesk Vision Series includes presentations and panels on the workflows, mastery and trends driving the year’s biggest blockbusters straight from the minds of Autodesk customers and thought leaders. SECAUCUS, NJ — Panasonic has launched a free VariCam LUT Library that enables filmmakers to create a variety of looks with VariCam and EVA1 cinema cameras. The library contains 35 unique 3D Look Up Tables that were created by Panasonic and Local 600 DITs.

NEW YORK CITY — Creative editorial house PS260 has launched their own creative content studio, called We Know The Future, which offers in-house production capabilities and advertising solutions across any channel that uses a screen. The offerings will be available in New York and Los Angeles. FRIEDRICHSDORF, GERMANY — Maxon has unveiled Cinema 4D Release 20 (R20), the latest version of its 3D design and animation software. R20 introduces high-end features for VFX and motion graphics artists, including node-based materials, volume modeling, robust CAD import and a dramatic evolution of the MoGraph toolset.
