Earlier this year we reviewed OCZ's flagship Vertex 4 SSD which at the time we were lead to believe was based on a second-generation Everest controller developed in-house. Having acquired IP and assets from Solid Data in 2010 to expand OCZ's controller and interface portfolio, followed by the acquisition of Indilinx, maker of the renowned Barefoot SSD controller, OCZ was in a good position to start working on their own controllers.

LUTs are an essential tool for any filmmaker. They can make your images more stylish, rich, and dynamic while making the process of color grading a whole lot easier to navigate. This aesthetic purpose is typically what a lot of new filmmakers think about when they think about LUTs, but these color tools can actually do a lot more than that. In this video, Ted Sim from Aputure lays out the different kinds of LUTs filmmakers use as well how they use them on and off set.

Back in April at NAB, Blackmagic revealed a Beta version for their DaVinci Resolve 14 and it proved to be quite powerful post-production software. We ended up awarding it with out Best Software of NAB 2017 award. Now, the full version of the software is beginning to ship.

First announced back at NAB, Resolve has been in public beta throughout the summer, with the last several revisions (starting with at least version 6 in August) being exceptionally stable. As revisions have heated up in the last weeks, with versions 8 and 9 coming fast on the heels of each other, it was likely that the stable release would happen soon, especially with IBC coming up, and now here we are.
