YouTube…it’s the most popular video destination in the world, the second most popular search engine (behind Google), and the third most popular website (behind Google and Facebook). Love it or hate it, YouTube has quickly become the go to place to consume video content.

In this episode, we’ll create a high-contrast, colorized look to an image — simply because it looks cool. It’s a great way to introduce somebody with a bang. Seriously, I have no idea why I call this the Kill Bill Effect, but I still like it, and maybe so will you!

My wife will tell you that I am a creature of habit. That definitely can be said about the breakfast cereal that I eat, and the type of video games I like to play, but it is also true of computer hardware as well. To be perfectly honest, I was an Avid purist for many years, until I had a very strict budget to work with, and I decided to purchase a Final Cut System.

Organizing an Editorial Dept. Using Backpack pt 1

      December 3, 2009, 5:03 am
Once the craze of Production is over and a temporary period of relative relaxation (known as the Director’s Cut) begins, it becomes time to clean up any messes leftover from Production and truly get the department in order. I’ve decided to use the cleanup period I’m currently in to test drive an organizational web app called Backpack. Made by 37Signals, Backpack is like a ready-made intranet for your office. All you need to do is get people to remember to use it.

Starting today, new rules are in effect for those of us in "new media" (blogs, twitter, etc.). Those "who write online reviews or endorse products using new media must disclose it when they receive free merchandise or payment for writing about an item."

Interview with Murch on Touch of Evil Recut

      November 29, 2009, 4:39 am
He has re-edited Orson Welle's 1958 film Touch of Evil. At the time of the film's initial release the studio remixed the film to Welle's displeasure. He fired off a letter with suggested changes. With those notes as their guide, Murch and re-edit producer Rick Schmidlin have reconstructed the film to Well's intentions.
