      REVIEW: AVID MEDIA COMPOSER V.3.5

      November 4, 2009, 3:37 am
Those of us who have been editing for a while, remember Avid becoming the "product we love and the company we hate," starting around the new millennium. THE ZEN OF LINEAR ONLINE EDITING

      November 4, 2009, 3:36 am
Ask anyone who is age 30 or less about editing today and they’ll probably impart a deep knowledge of Avid and Final Cut Pro nonlinear systems. Seldom will you hear a word about linear editing.

      The Lies We All Tell

      November 4, 2009, 3:36 am
I posted this two years ago, but it bears posting again. I might try to make a habit of bringing it up every year or so. Still so very true...

      Avid/FCP 2-Step Event

      November 3, 2009, 3:33 am
The LAFCPUG has a new event coming up for November 18th in LA. The perception, (especially among FCP users) is that Final Cut Pro is slowly but surely taking over the post industry. While that maybe true in the "Indy" world, the reality is the Avid Media Composer is still firmly entrenched in Hollywood feature films and broadcast television. In order for you to compete in Hollywood it's important to know BOTH tools. So lafcpug will devote the entire evening to the Avid/FCP 2-step. What are...

Original development team for FCP (Part 3)

      November 2, 2009, 3:33 am
Michael Wohl worked for Adobe in the mid-1990's and was involved with Premiere in the days when Premiere was one of the only affordable video editors around. He then moved to Macromedia as part of the original team put together to produce Final Cut Pro. He is credited as being one of the original designers of Apple's Emmy award winning Final Cut Pro software.

Top 10 Final Cut Pro 7 Features #9

      October 31, 2009, 8:33 pm
Look at the image below. Something new has been added in FCP 7. It's the Timecode Viewer, a floating time code window, which will really come in handy as you share your screen or sequence with others. And taking notes by jotting down time code as you view your footage has never been easier.
