It’s highly unlikely that the next studio release will happen in early 2011, or even 2011. As I noted in the comments on the article, it seems very, very clear that the QuickTime we know will get a complete foundation change. Final Cut Studio would need many of those changes to be able to replicate Adobe’s Mercury Engine performance (along with the need to be 64 bit Cocoa and use Open CL and Grand Central Dispatch).

Oscars relegates editing to ad breaks

      February 13, 2019, 7:30 am
The Academy is not having the easiest of run ups to this year’s Oscars, which take place on 24 February. First, initial host Kevin Hart dropped out of the job following immense disquiet about previous homophobic remarks on Twitter, and the Academy decided to forge ahead without a host for the first time in three decades or so.

Larry Jordan Comments on Succeeding in Perilous Ti

      February 12, 2019, 6:42 am
These are perilous times. There has never been a better time to tell stories with video. High-quality gear is more affordable, while low-cost world-wide distribution options abound. Even better, there is a vast audience hungry for visual stories. But, when it comes to succeeding by making money on the stories we create – that’s an entirely different matter.

      Classic Course: CC Composite

This effect was long one of our secret weapons in Adobe After Effects to create looks like our “instant sex” treatment with just one layer, instead of a stack of layers and blending modes. Its blending function has been replaced by the Compositing Options now available in the timeline for each effect you apply, but it’s ability to also apply blending modes makes it still very useful...

2019 Oscar Predications after the BAFTA's

      February 11, 2019, 5:08 am
“Roma” may have won only four BAFTAs to those seven for “The Favourite” but this haul included the top prize of Best Picture. Multi-hyphenate Alfonso Cuaron shared in that win as well as the one for Best Foreign Language Film and claimed the other two on his own for directing and lensing this intimate memoir.
