Facilis Technology Demonstrates New 64bit TerraBlock at Stand 7.D05

See Extreme Multi-user Write Performance Over 8Gbit Fibre and 10Gbit Ethernet

Hudson, Mass, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands, September 10, 2010 – Facilis Technology, a leader in shared media storage technology for post-production and content creation, today announced new hardware and operating system for TerraBlock shared storage systems. The 64bit operating system, as well as high performance SAS controllers, adds to the available bandwidth for multi-stream uncompressed and 2K/4K DI workflow.

TerraBlock now supports 10Gbit Ethernet for access to Multi-user Write volumes. This more than doubles the stream count for Ethernet clients on the Facilis Shared File System network when aggregating multiple 1Gbit clients.

Key features of TerraBlock shared storage now include:

? Dynamic sharing methods of Multi-user Write (file-level) and Single-user Write (volume-level), selectable on a per-virtual volume basis

? Access to virtual volumes over 8Gbit fibre channel or 1Gbit Ethernet with 10Gbit uplink

? Avid media and project sharing through native file system emulation

? Single-user Write volumes that support up to 4K uncompressed bandwidth

"The move from an analogue to a tapeless workflow requires robust, fast, and flexible storage," said Ken Bell, MD at QuadLogic, European partners for TerraBlock. "Whether delivering uncompressed HD or DV over fibre or Ethernet to Mac and PC platforms, Facilis TerraBlock does it simply and performs as promised. With such pedigree it is an obvious choice in the broadcast and post-production market."

Additionally, to help meet the ongoing demand for low-cost storage, Facilis will be showing the T8, a new SAS direct-attached storage option. This product will feature dual-channel 3Gbit connectivity using the ATTO ExpressSAS R380 adapter, and is qualified for multi-stream HD or 2K DPX applications.

Facilis TerraBlock will be at IBC, September 9-14, stand 7.D05. TerraBlock with 64bit OS and 10Gbit Ethernet is currently shipping. For pricing and availability, please contact QuadLogic at info@quadlogic.co.uk. Visit Quad Logic Systems at the Facilis TerraBlock stand 7.D05.

Even though The Predictinator failed at predicting "Ex Machina" two years ago (probably because we're now in a post-digital era and our assumptions are no longer rock solid), the formula bounced back last year, correctly predicting "The Jungle Book" to win the visual effects Oscar.

RGB Documentary Editor on What Makes Her an Icon

      January 30, 2018, 6:26 am
rom her workouts to her dissents and sparkly collars, the Supreme Court justice has earned the moniker that lawyer Shana Knizhnik gave her back in 2013, with the Notorious RBG Tumblr. A new documentary about the 84-year-old Ginsburg debuted at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Julie Cohen, creator of Court TV’s Supreme Court Watch, and Betsy West, a filmmaker and professor at the Columbia School of Journalism, directed the film. Digital Trends spoke with RBG’s editor, Carla Gutierrez, about what she thinks viewers will learn about — and from — Ginsburg.

Replacing Kevin Spacey - Re-Cutting All The Money

      January 29, 2018, 6:07 pm
The production and post-production of Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World is one of the most fascinating filmmaking stories of the past year, perhaps the decade. The film tells the true story of the 1973 kidnapping of 16-year old J. Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer), grandson of billionaire J. Paul Getty (originally Kevin Spacey, but now Christopher Plummer). The film follows the efforts of the younger Getty’s mother (Michelle Williams) as she tries to get the ransom money from her wealthy father-in-law. Eventually, she’s aided in her efforts by the billionaire’s lawyer, Fletcher Chase (Mark Wahlberg). The film was initially slated for a December 22, 2017 release date through Sony’s TriStar Pictures.
