BEVERLY HILLS - In early January, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the winners of the 2012 Scientific and Technical Achievement awards, which will be presented at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 9. The nine awards, culled from over 70 submissions, include five software applications, one algorithm, one mechanical device, one computer controlled battery and an Oscar for Cook lenses.

The Iloura team completed 500 shots, led by Iloura VFX supervisors Glenn Melenhorst and Andrew Hellen and Iloura VFX producers Ineke Majoor and Jeannette Manifold. The feature was colored by Jill Bodganowicz at Deluxe’s Culver City, CA, facility. Iloura’s slate of work focused on look development for and creation of ghostly characters. LOS ANGELES — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 12 scientific and technical investigations have been launched for the 2016 Oscars. These investigations are made public so individuals and companies with devices or claims of innovation within these areas will have the opportunity to submit achievements for review.

LOS ANGELES – The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced that Oscar-nominated film editor Mark Goldblatt (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) has won the runoff election for the open Film Editors Branch seat on the 2016–2017 Board of Governors. Goldblatt, who is returning to the Board after a one-year hiatus, joins incumbents Carol Littleton and Michael Tronick in representing the branch.
