One question that I've seen crop up repeatedly is, where are all the PCs and devices with Thunderbolt ports? Even with Apple's strong promotional support of the technology, there have been fewer devices than people anticipated, and they have taken longer to materialize than many of us would have liked.

When I finished college and started working full-time, I was struck by the amount of free time I suddenly had on my hands. My last semester of school, I didn't have a single day off from work or class (and often class days were much longer than work) until my last final exam was completed. To go from that kind of schedule to a measly 40 hours a week was a stark difference.

My first media job was as an intern doing equipment management for production and post. All I wanted to do at the time was edit and animate, but instead I learned about systems and workflows. Looking back, it was a great foundation, and the things I learned have always been useful. Several years later, I now find myself bouncing back and forth between editor and manager.

I was a FCP Editor/Trainer for 10 years. Since FCP X replaced FCP 7 I have been transitioning to an Adobe workflow. Like myself, a lot of former FCP editors are trying out Adobe's Production Premium (equivalent to FCP Studio) or the new Creative Cloud subscription model. In this article I'll look at using Adobe Prelude from a former FCP user's perspective.

Chip Dizárd of Web Video Chefs recently reviewed our video collaboration service. Highlights for Chip included our clean design, custom branding, mobile friendly video playback, different ways of sharing, and the ability to deliver source videos to clients. Chip found that ScreenLight was an excellent fit for his wedding video business, his corporate video business, and his church and ministry business.

I had stopped looking for it, but then there it was and there was no escape. I'm talking, of course, about my first freelance gig. I got the gig through a friend I had stayed in touch with after completing an internship.
