    The proliferation of digital camera formats over the last decade has introduced entirely new color management concepts into a once straightforward editorial color pipeline. Although this tutorial looks at Avid DS specific color management tools, it also lays down the basic groundwork necessary to understand lookup tables (LUTs) and their use in any other color managed environment.

      SAN FRANCISCO – Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) has announced that Rob Bredow has been appointed SVP, executive creative director & head of ILM. In addition, it was announced that Gretchen Libby has been promoted to vice president, marketing & production. Bredow will be in charge of all of ILM’s four global studios and report to Lucasfilm general manager Lynwen Brennan. Libby will report to Bredow.

Directed by Isaiah Seret of Biscuit Filmworks, the campaign features actor Sean Astin as the curator of the Museum of More Pirate.       VFX: Rodeo FX breaks down their Downsizing work

      Downsizing | VFX Breakdown by Rodeo FX from Rodeo FX on Vimeo. Rodeo FX just released a VFX breakdown video highlighting the studio’s work on the film Downsizing. For the movie, in which scientists find a way to shrink humans to five inches tall, the Montreal-based VFX studio was brought on board to contribute almost 360 shots. Rodeo FX also created 285 CG assets for Leisureland, including 129 buildings.

      Freefolk recreates the 19th century for The Alieni

      LONDON — Freefolk, the Soho-based VFX studio, delivered a substantial amount of work for the TNT/Netflix show, The Alienist. The dramatic series is based on a novel by Caleb Carr and stars Daniel Brühl, Dakota Fanning and Luke Evans. The show follows the story of a serial killer in New York City during the late 19th century, and as such, much of the studios visual effects work involved recreating 1896 New York.
