Whilst editors are usually unseen (both on set and on screen) and therefore relatively unknown, Sally’s work with Quentin Tarantino evolved to become much more than that in both areas. On any given DVD it would usually be possible to find Tarantino gushing about the importance of collaboration in the edit room as a chance to rewrite the story one last time – and the nonlinear nature of many of his films gave the general public the chance to consider work beyond the shooting stages and sets.

Here we are once again coming into the holiday season in the year that many would like to forget. 2020 has been full of ups and downs all over the world but especially for those of us in the US. I won’t get into all that, only to say that many will be glad to leave 2020 behind. Here’s hoping 2021 will be a new beginning.

Toy Story is now 25 years old. On Pixar’s website they have a couple of video featurettes about the animation process from circa 1995, including one with Pete Docter exploring the studio’s Marionette animation tool. Plus another about modeling. Check them out below.
