Editing is a mix of art and business. You get to create art by juxtaposing images, words, sounds and performance to evoke emotion and thought in those who consider your work.

How to Fake a Dolly Zoom in Premiere Pro

      June 22, 2017, 5:15 am
If you're a Hitchcock fan, you're no doubt aware of the dolly zoom, also known as the "Vertigo effect." It's dazzlingly disorienting, but it also requires a zoom lens and the physical ability to move the lens in space, things that aren't always simultaneously possible, such as if you're shooting with a drone. Here's how to fake the effect in Premiere Pro.

AI film editor can cut scenes in seconds to suit y

      June 21, 2017, 5:31 pm
AI has won at Go and done a few other cool things, but so far it's been mighty unimpressive at harder tasks like customers service, Twitter engagement and script writing. However, a new algorithm from researchers at Stanford and Adobe has shown it's pretty damn good at video dialogue editing, something that requires artistry, skill and considerable time. The bot not only removes the drudgery, but can edit clips using multiple film styles to suit the project.

Featurette for 'War for the Planet of the Apes' Ex

      June 21, 2017, 12:34 pm
"I fight only to protect apes." 20th Century Fox has released a new featurette for War for the Planet of the Apes, focusing on the groundbreaking, unbelievable VFX work in the movie. Weta is the VFX studio responsible for bringing to life all of the apes in the movie, which is amazing because they didn't use a single real ape yet it's almost impossible to tell that they aren't real. Seriously. Weta has been improving with each of these three modern Apes movies, and this one has their best work yet.

War for the Planet of the Apes VFX Video with Andy

      June 21, 2017, 9:39 am
Every year that goes by in which Andy Serkis isn’t seriously considered for an Oscar nomination is another year wasted. That ship conceivably could have sailed once The Lord of the Rings movies wrapped since Gollum was Serkis’ strongest character up to that point in his career, but he’s gone on to improve upon his motion-capture performances each and every time he steps into the technologically advanced suit. And that’s without even mentioning the growing number of motion-capture proteges who have studied under Serkis.
