Every once in a while smart people get together to do good. In this case, the Women in Film Foundation was sitting on countless hours of some 40 Legacy Series video interviews with industry achievers—including Debbie Allen, Martha Coolidge, Eva Marie Saint, Fay Kanin, Evelyn Keyes, Marcia Nasatir, Margaret O’Brien, Anna Hamilton Phelan, Meta Wilde, Joan Tewkesbury, Fay Wray, Jane Wyatt and Laura Ziskin—that needed editing.

Proxies are smaller, low-resolution versions that serve as a substitute for the original camera media when your computer is not powerful enough to smoothly handle high-resolution material or demanding codecs. Since the Final Cut Pro 10.4.9 update, a few things have changed regarding proxies. I’ll show you a few new ways to work with proxies in Final Cut Pro in this Quick Tip video.

A native Californian, David Tanaka attended the University of California at Berkeley where in 1989 he earned his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Film Theory. Upon graduating, he worked for post-production facilities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, quickly gaining experience through corporate advertising and industrial documentary assignments.
