Boris FX announced Boris AAF Transfer, a new plug-in designed for seamless transfer of Apple Final Cut Pro sequences to Avid Media Composer. Boris AAF Transfer uses Avid’s new AMA (Avid Media Access) architecture to transfer Final Cut Pro sequences without the need for transcoding or rewrapping.

No, no, no. I don’t think that there’s one editing platform that rules over everything. And I never have felt that way. When I edited on film, there were debates as to whether a Moviola upright was superior to a flatbed (too noisy!! too assistant intensive!!) and I used both.

OK, I am NOT going to say that Avid Media Composer 5.0 is a "game changer." Mainly because I hate that term. And I don’t think that it is changing the editing game. But, what it is doing is adding more tools to make it a better application. Hmmm...well, I might actually have to change my thoughts on the term "game changer," because it is actually changing the game, just not the game you all are thinking about. The game Avid is changing is the one it has been playing with it’s user base.

For at least the last six years, and really even before that, Apple’s Final Cut Pro and Avid’s Media Composer have been the leading products for professional editing, with FCP having carved it’s way into Avid’s market share quite substantially in some sectors.
