      EDITING

Cutting Ocasio Cortez Before Her Fame...

      January 29, 2019, 1:53 pm
How do you edit a film about a public sensation before she’s become one? And how do you edit the story of four different women running for office, without knowing if any of them will win? Robin Blotnick knows the answer, and it involves organization, a ton of scene cards, and imaginative problem-solving when it comes to envisioning the future.

Memory - The Origins of Alien (Sundance 2019 Revie

      January 29, 2019, 1:53 pm
Memory – The Origins of Alien, premiering in the Midnight Category at Sundance 2019, follows the making of the science fiction classic: Alien. I caught the screening on a Friday morning… admittedly not midnight… more of a brunch showing. The film is a deep dive into the pace, imagery, cinematography, script and THAT ONE SCENE where the creature buys a one way ticket to Bloodville via the Chest Cavity Express. Here’s a glimpse at the doc that aims to reveal what made Alien a gooey, light flickering sci-fi masterpiece, where it rains inside and steam is inexplicably everywhere…oh wait. Ridley Scott did explain it. “‘Cause it looks cool.”

Light From Light: Editor Courtney Ware on Returnin

      January 29, 2019, 10:07 am
Editor/Director Courtney Ware got her start in the industry as a PA, quickly working her way up to producer before her 21st birthday. After her directorial debut on Sunny in the Dark, she realized a pivot away from producing and into storytelling was in her future, and she got started on being an editor in between directing jobs. The first film to bring her to Sundance was Never Goin’ Back, and she’s back at the festival this year with Light From Light.

      Edit Ready Transcoding Software Review

      January 28, 2019, 1:05 pm
In today’s world of digital media, dealing with multiple codecs, frame sizes, even frame rates is a sad fact of life. While our editing software can handle all these options, it is often far better to standardize your media into a single format prior to editing. Edit Ready is a utility designed exactly for this purpose.
