While working on a job this week I had tons of shots to log and organize. While doing this I realized how much I was pasting the same words over and over and over and over. No problem, I mapped my floating keyboard key F13 to paste. That meant I didn’t have to keep hitting the two key combination of command + v over and over again. You wouldn’t think it would make that much difference but it does. It reminded me of an old 2008 Editblog post: My Friend F13.

In the past year, Apple and Avid have broken new ground with very solid updates to their flagship editor applications. Apple with its introduction of the "new" Final Cut Studio, featuring Final Cut Pro 7 – and Avid, first with Media Composer 3.5 and now 4.0.

Back in 2003 when I converted my basement to full blown edit suite (a year long process), it was both a blessing and curse all at once. Gone was the commute and fighting with Chicagoland traffic. I could sleep in later and "get home" from work earlier. Sounds great!
