During the past few weeks, I have been testing out and "kicking the tires", on Grass Valley’s Edius 6. Edius was originally created by Canopus, and was bought out by Grass Valley. They have continued to improve upon its structure providing a large selection of codec support. Before I dive into my review, I would like to thank Grass Valley for graciously providing me with this copy of Edius 6.

This year at NAB Show 2011 there was so much to see and so many great people to meet. Post -Production was dedicated to entire Hall which and an unbelievable amount of editing gear. The industries finest could been seen almost everywhere. BlackMagic Design and Grass Valley had some of the largest booths there.

Matrox announced at NAB for Thunderbolt using an adapter to connect to your existing MX02 or Mini. This will allow users with the latest generation of Macbook Pros with Thunderbolt to support 10 gigabits per second that brings together high-speed data transfer and high-definition (HD) display on to a single cable.

EditShare was on hand at NAB showing off their latest hardware and software. Some of these included were EditShare Flow (production asset management), Energy & XStream (shared storage), Geevs (broadcast ingest/playout) and Ark (archiving).

The four new ADVC G- Series converters offer a number features, such as frame synchronization, 3D stereoscopic signal conversion, and true 1080p capability with 3Gb/s SDI. These new converters come in a variety of flavors.

Apple has finally given us a preview of the new Final Cut Pro X. It has been entirely re-written from the ground up. There are some fantastic new features added and you will be able to download it to your mac for the unbelievable price of only $299.

AJA is on the floor show casing various products from Kona cards to I/O to converters. A real stand out here at NAB is AJA’s new I/O Express supporting Thunderbolt Technology. With speeds up to 800mbs is such a small package. This is really looks capturing and monitoring with AJA just became a whole lot faster and better.
