Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film, today announced the availability of Boris AAF Transfer Version 2, a set of two Apple Final Cut Pro plug-ins for transferring sequences between Final Cut Pro and Avid editing and finishing systems. Digitize the footage and organize Avid Media Composer project bins as you would on any 24 fps HD show. To prepare the script file — we get the script e-mailed to us as a text (.txt) file — break down the script into scenes and save each scene as a separate text file. Hint: Try to grab as much blank space at the top and bottom of a scene in order to have room for clip images.

NEW YORK - The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (www.nyc.gov/film) will present "Made in NY - Careers in Post-Production," two panel discussions featuring members of New York City's post production community. The events will take place on Monday, February 2nd and Tuesday February 3rd at Deluxe New York. Both are free and open to the public.

Two more events have been added to the events Calendar. The first is AICE's Awards which will take place May 20th 2009 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in L.A. They are currently accepting entries. The other event is the SMPTE 2009: Annual Tech Conference and Expo which will take place Oct. 27-29, 2009 at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood.

The intricate film has nearly 600 visual effects shots and was shot using a range of source formats, including HDCAM and Super 35mm film. To help achieve its distinctive visual appeal, the film's conceptual art and design was created by a team of artists behind the Star Wars trilogy (Iain McCaig and Ninth Ray). The film was edited entirely in HD on four Avid Media Composer systems using the DNxHD codec.

The first thing you need to do in this compression workflow is open Episode and navigate to the By Workflow templates folder and copy the iPod_H264_640x480 preset located in the iPod Video (Classic and Nano) templates folder within Devices. Select the preset and control-click to get a contextual menu; select Duplicate. You now have a preset called iPod_H264_640x480 copy. Double-click the preset to open it.
