10 Gnarliest Practical Effects in Horror Films

      October 22, 2018, 8:51 am
A film is dated the moment it is released. To exist out of time is an impossibility. You can spot the seams of any “classic” if you watch with a modern eye. You may allow yourself a chuckle or even an eye-roll. That is not to say that the film has failed you, or that it is not worth your attention. It’s just old. Don’t worry, that baller CGI-fest you’re currently praising will sink into history as well. Now, some movies can surprise you. When it comes to the horror genre, more often than not, the practical effect retains an emotional response longer than that of the weightless computer cartoon. We dare any modern film to achieve the horror or the revulsion of the scenes listed below.

FilmConvert – Color Grading and Film Look Tools

      October 22, 2018, 4:36 am
If you’re looking for an affordable and easy way to get a terrific film look, from film stock to color and grain, FilmConvert is an ideal plug-in every editor should consider purchasing (and it supports quite a few popular NLEs). You simply drop the filter onto your footage, select your camera profile, how it was filmed, the film stock you’d like, and it’ll look great. But you can do some serious color grading in the Camera Controls, and still end up with a terrific film look for your project.

Solutions to Resolve Part 3: Unexpected clipping w

      October 22, 2018, 4:36 am
One of the great features of Resolve is that it works in 32bit float. This means that it can cope with a virtually limitless dynamic range, and, most importantly, it will conserve that range however much you raise or lower the video levels from one node to another.

      Grading Similes

      October 20, 2018, 6:50 am
A LUT is like a music loop or sample within a song, it can contribute to a grade, but it shouldn’t BE the grade. Automatic correction is like autotune, it can solve problems, but it shouldn’t be the main flavor of your grade. Plugins are like audio effects, a bit can give music texture, but too much makes it look like you’re concealing problems.
