    Lease is More

From Pandora and Netflix to the Adobe CS Suite Editions it looks like we are finally warming up to the idea of trading convenience over ownership. If only there was a consumer leasing program for Apple hardware.

      NAB 2010 - Avid 5

      April 26, 2010, 7:00 pm
Avid just isn’t slowing down. I advised them that they just needed to slow down. But did they listen? Nope. Why slow down? Because just as soon as you get used to one version, another version comes along and has tons more features that you want.

A blog from an editor just starting out in the feature world. My heart is storytelling. My goal is to aid the Director and/or Editor in telling the best story possible. I have a lot to learn and a lot to share. Hope you enjoy.

      Moving Up: Becoming An Editor

      April 24, 2010, 6:59 pm
It used to be very simple. If you wanted to be an editor, you first apprenticed, then became an assistant. You observed everything your editor did, worked hard, learned the craft, and one day someone hired you to cut their film. Actually, it was never that simple, but there is no doubt that today’s progression from assistant to editor is much less clear. Post NAB Review

      April 24, 2010, 6:59 pm

First, there seemed to be an anxious yet excited energy at this year’s show, and attendance was up from last year too. It’s like back to business––but what business is that? Things are changing so rapidly today that it seems impossible to keep up. Trying to keep up is the main reason I go each year. Here are my highlights from the show floor.

There are a number of effects that fall into the "grunge" or "distressed" category, including film grain, scratches and film defects, TV scanlines and light leaks. The last group is typically only available from stock footage houses as actual film clips, rather than as plug-in filter effects.
