So, you’ve viewed The Arcade Fire video directed by Chris Milk and edited, yes edited, by Livio Sanchez. When I first viewed this music video my mouth fell to the floor, when I viewed it again I couldn’t help but think about Ronald Bergan’s biography about Sergei Eisenstein titled: Eisenstein: A Life in Conflict. In this book there is a brief an idea Eisenstein had about how viewers should view the screen.

ACE has sent us links to the photos of the LA Edit Fest. View it as a slide show it's a little easer to go through. BUT Realize there are a ton of photos.

Here's a segment from the Feature panel talk in which Richard Chew talks about editing Bobby. The film about Bobby Kennedy's murder. The approach to the film was a mix of documentary and fiction which made cutting quite a challenge.

Joel Cox on his Editing Process

Joel Cox talked at edit fest about his process with Clint Eastwood. It's 6 Minutes and 35 seconds and it opens with Alan Heim talking about John Hughes recent passing and goes into the first question of the feature panel. Maryann Brandon, A.C.E. answered the question first and Joel references it at one point. You'll be able to hear the full talk in the coming weeks. While you wait, enjoy this 6 minute piece.

Their harder to rebuild the second time
Keep in touch with your contacts
Try to get into the UNION
