first LAFCPUG meeting since the release of FCP X

    June 29, 2011, 4:25 pm
LOS ANGELES — I thoroughly expected to see the Hollywood post community villagers, torches aloft, en masse at Tuesday nights Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (LAFCPUG) meeting. I anticipated rioting and perhaps even a lynching or two.

Episode 16: The one about piracy

      December 14, 2010, 3:48 pm
With the US Government Accounting Office dismissing RIAA and MPAA "research" as being lacking in any factual basis, is unauthorized distribution hurting or helping the industry? Thanks as always to Zach Spell for editing making us sound smart!

      Good post is good post

Listen up. Good post is good post. Bad post is bad post. I mention this as a reminder to everyone saying that the only way to make a 3D movie is in the camera, that the "problem" with some 3D movies is that the 3D was added in post. It shouldn't take a single second for you to remember that post, in itself, is not the problem. Quite the contrary. We can all name a dozen examples off the top of our heads where post was the only possible solution...

Christmas gift ideas for the editor

      December 13, 2010, 11:19 am
It’s very close to the Christmas holiday but my guess is there’s still a lot of shopping to be done. Editors need gifts too so I thought I’d put together this somewhat editor / edit suite specific list of a few items that might make an editor happy if they unwrapped them from under the tree. With that caveat you won’t see any software or downloadable products, which makes this list a bit difficult since so much of what we do is on the computer.

      Eyeheight: Loudness and technical compliance
