Art of the Guillotine and Tej's Tech Blog will be having a small pub night at TIFF for all editors who are at The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). If your in the area (Toronto) make sure to stop and have a pint. Where: Fox and Fiddle @ 280 Bloor Street West, Toronto Ont. M5S 3B9 (Between Spadina and St. George) When: Friday September 18th, 2009 Time: 7PM We're going to have a few raffle prizes that we can bring together for the people who come.

The other thing I really miss is having a dedicated video output from the computer to a video monitor.... nVidia press contacts say the only way to use a second monitor for the Program output is to tear the Program monitor off the Premiere Pro program and maximize it on the second monitor

Media Composer 5 will be released a week from tomorrow, and without question, it represents the biggest upgrade Avid has offered in years — since the last version 5, to be exact, way back in 1994, when the modern Media Composer was born.

I woke up this morning to an email from the fine folks at Magic Bullet. It had all kinds of info about their new helper app "Grinder" It is a new app designed to help batch convert your h.264 native files into prores or photo-jpeg. It also can help speed up creating lower res proxies, AND adding timecode!

Here is a freebie compressor setting. Recently I was working on a rather large project and we had several different formats that we needed to put into Avid. This compressor setting was made to convert whatever .mov file into DNxHD 36.
