If you're the owner of a new MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac mini, or iMac, and you’re looking for something to plug into the fancy new Thunderbolt port, your options are pretty limited. There's the Apple Thunderbolt Display (), the Promise Pegasus R4 and R6 RAID arrays, and now the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series from...

Why Should You Care About 24p?

      March 3, 2010, 11:36 am
The Canon 5D MKII 24p update was just announced, and people are flipping out. Now, many people have been using the 5D for video at 30fps (and conforming it to 29.97), and others have been using Twixtor (check the comments) and other tools to conform it to 24p.

Changes to a Cut AFTER Online!

      March 3, 2010, 11:36 am

Not QC (quality check) notes like one would expect, but some more online notes like "blur this more, blur that...and blur that," and "the graphics are the old ones, please replace with the new ones, link below, and the font needs to change as well."

Comedy Cutting Pt. 1 - Cutting Remarks

      March 2, 2010, 11:34 am
Watching an editor cut - even if you’re hellbent on becoming one yourself - is excruciating, like watching paint dry. A veteran comedy editor changed that all for me. In 1985 I was hired to assist Dann Cahn on Ediflex, a new non-linear VHS-based editing.

Here is the performance and story edit of NINA. There is no color correction and still some temp camera audio, and obviously, no sound design or mixing. That phase is next.

      Final Cutters Site

      March 2, 2010, 11:31 am
If you were looking for a single web destination that is a clearing house for all things Final Cut Pro then FinalCutters has to be that destination. It’s attempting to do what seems like the near impossible and pull together news, blog posts, photos, Twitter tweets, user reviews and ratings and build a community right there at the site.

Here’s a great piece of editor porn that popped up on Twitter from Alan Dennison. Watch only if you’re an editor. (And of age) Otherwise you probably won’t care.

      The Hollywood Cut

      February 28, 2010, 11:27 am
Oscar-winning film editor Hughes Winborne on giving Teen Patti an international look In Los Angeles, when Hughes Winborne, Oscar-winning film editor for Crash, got an offer for Teen Patti, all he knew of Bollywood was that "it makes more films than Hollywood in a year". "That, combined with the chance to visit India for the first time, made me accept the project," he says, over e-mail from the US...
