Did I Mention Organization is Good?

      February 23, 2010, 9:34 am
Being organized from start to finish is KEY to working quickly. While you think that it is time wasted that you could spend shooting/editing/whathaveyou...it really is the secret behind working efficiently, and smartly.

A look Back: Controlled Toggle Perspective

      February 22, 2010, 9:32 am
While attending my last semester at BYU Media Arts/Film school in 2006, I wrote this paper as a part of the Film Theory class. On our final test we had to remember 30 of the 32 class member presentations. Mine was not on the final due, what I believe, to the goofy title and how easy it was to remember to connect to the summary.

      Dreams of an Olympic Editor

      February 22, 2010, 9:30 am
A couple nights ago I watched the Olympics on my big HDTV at home. After my initial gawking at all the makeup caked on the figure skaters, I started thinking about goals and how they shift. See, there was a time when the one thing I wanted to do most was... edit for the Olympics.

      February 22, 2010, 9:29 am
Here is the latest draft of N.I.N.A., the final scene is still getting figured out and the edits on these scenes need to be tightened up. What's the thing you learn from editing performance on scriptless filmmaking?

      Canon 5D Avid FCP Roundtrip

      February 22, 2010, 9:27 am
No, this isn’t the 5D workflow article that you’ve been waiting for. That’s still coming in another couple of weeks. In the meantime, I’ve started on another Canon 5D commercial. This time I’m cutting the project in Avid Media Composer instead of Final Cut Pro. There are a number of reasons, including some recent stability issues I’ve had with FCP. In addition, the creative treatment calls for some nice speed ramp effects.
