I have been a broadcast editor for over 20 years. I have edited long form, short form, docs, features, promos, commercials…. you name it. I started editing tape-to-tape. Then as technology developed, I moved in to digital editing with disk recorders in a linear suite, then moved on to non-linear. I have edited with Ampex Ace 25, GVG (Sabre), Lightworks, Premiere Pro Cs5, and my main system is Autodesk Smoke Advanced on Linux, and Smoke for Mac on OSX.

Autodesk Smoke is now available in its first Pre-Release Trial. I am sure you have many questions, so here are a few answers. I have been a beta tester for Smoke 2013, and have been a long time user. So beyond that, I have no inside knowledge of the development decisions.

A Service Pack was just released for Smoke Advanced, and Smoke for MAC, as well as the other systems products. (Inferno, Flame, Flame Premium, Flare, Flint, Lustre) If you are on Subscription, log into the Autodesk Subscription Center to download your Service Pack software.
