    VAN NUYS, CA -- Avid made a major sale of its Media Composer 6 and Symphony 6 to Bunim/Murray Productions, the producer of numerous reality TV shows, including Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Real World. The company was previously a Final Cut Pro house, but senior vice president of post production Mark Raudonis says Avid's NLE better meet the company's post needs.

SIGGRAPH 2017 will mark the 44th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques, and will be held July 30th through August 3rd in Los Angeles.

      NORTH HOLLYWOOD — Nominees for the 69th Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday, July 13th at the Wolf Theatre at Saban Media Center. The winners will be announced on September 17th on CBS and honor programming that aired from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017. NBC led the broadcast networks, with 64 nominations.       LONDON — Union (www.unionvfx.com) has added three new VFX supervisors to its team in order to support the studio’s growing number of film and television projects.       LOS ANGELES — Full-service production studio Filmograph (http://filmograph.tv) recently used Google’s Zync renderer and cloud platform to complete the end title sequence for Saban’s feature film, Power Rangers. The studio’s vision was to bring to life a computer graphics environment of earthly yet alien-like minerals, macro shots of gritty rock formations, and names frozen inside the luminous glowing stones — all examples of the Power Rangers’ energy.

      Post veteran Martin Irwin dies, 80

      HOLLYWOOD, FL — Post production veteran Martin Irwin died on Friday, June 23rd, at the age of 80. Born in 1936 to an immigrant mother and American father, he grew up in Brooklyn, was a member of the US Marines, and received a degree in electrical engineering. He married Barbara Gosset in 1958 and soon after moved his family to Monsey in Rockland County.
