Hollywood post-production powerhouse Modern VideoFilm has chosen a UTAH-400/XL routing switcher from Utah Scientific to serve as the core of its infrastructure in its new 96,000sq-ft facility in Burbank, CA, which is the headquarters for its multi-city operation. Modern VideoFilm is using the new router to interconnect the facility's equipment and systems that record and monitor SDI video with embedded audio and timecode.

Just two days before the premiere of The Hobbit, Peter Jackson's latest foray into the Tolkien universe, the film's post-production team was still hard at work, tweaking, assembling, even adding new animations and effects up to the very last minute.

Last night I worked into the wee hours with editor friend Simon Reglar, planning the post production process for 50 Kisses. Simon is an old pal who worked with me on Urban Ghost Story before pursuing a career as an editor – he is currently wrapping up on Merlin for the BBC after which he will jump ship to edit 50 Kisses. FANTASTIC!
