Thomas Szabo at Mindtransplant has emailed us to say that ClipExporter has been taken off the Mac App Store and is now free to download. It's not the end of this handy app for getting clips out of FCPX, it's the beginning of more development.

Prior to Final Cut Pro X 10.0.6, the Share menu existed on its own and let you convert your project into one or many kinds of outputs, one at a time. You had to send an entire project (a huge issue for many editors) and you had to wait for the export to complete before you could continue. All that just changed with 10.0.6.

A lot has changed tech-wise in the last couple years when it comes to post-production needs. Things you used to think you needed to edit a movie (a giant, souped-up Mac Pro tower with a large, convoluted RAID system), are no longer necessary. So what exactly do you need nowadays to really get stuff done? Well, I run a full-on FCPX/DaVinci Resolve setup now in a couple different configurations at my company, We Make Movies: Post. It’s definitely not your traditional pro edit setup at this point..
