Hollywood post-production powerhouse Modern VideoFilm has chosen a UTAH-400/XL routing switcher from Utah Scientific to serve as the core of its infrastructure in its new 96,000sq-ft facility in Burbank, CA, which is the headquarters for its multi-city operation. Modern VideoFilm is using the new router to interconnect the facility's equipment and systems that record and monitor SDI video with embedded audio and timecode.

One of the least considered functions at many studios is Digital Asset Management (DAM). More attention needs to be spent on this mostly under-used asset. Many files are created and then unceremoniously dumped into outer space, never to be seen again. However, it doesn't have to be that way; once created, digital assets become a goldmine that just keep giving.

Comedy editing is one of the more difficult styles of editing. If the actors delivery is off, the timing is off and as an editor, you need to "Try" to fix it for pacing and timing in the overall film. Not everyone is meant to cut comedy films and shows, editors who may excel in one style of comedy editing might not excel in another.
